It's now possible to get a last minute travel deal on a hotel room with about four taps on your smartphone. Hotel Tonight is a free app for iPhone, iPad and iTouch that has just been upgraded to include deals in more cities and the ability to add extra nights to a same-day find. This app lists three same-day deals per day in selected cities starting at noon local time, and then the deals are available until 2am.

With the upgrades, travelers can now lock in low rates for up to five nights instead of just one when making a reservation. For example, the app was showing a rate of $125 plus tax at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco for Monday night and beyond, compared with $139 a night plus tax through the hotels website.
