However, the British foreign office advises that travel to both countries is still relatively safe, and as long as tourists stay in contact with tour operators they foresee no problems. Summer is a great time of year to visit Egypt, with the resorts in Luxor and Sharm el Sheikh proving to be especially popular summer getaways for many people. Currently these resorts are less than half full, and some hotels have only 5% occupancy and are desperate for tourists. This situation has led to the costs of holidays plummeting between 20 and 50%.
